Apartment Photos Finally and Saying Goodbye

Image
Anthony flies home today, and I can only imagine the sadness he felt at having to say goodbye to Kira this morning. Lucky for us, she has a classmate from Auburn who is there from her internship in D.C. and they will be spending the weekend together exploring and attending church.  One of our biggest desires for Kira while she lives in NYC is to get involved in a local church, and thankfully for us and for her, there are several she is interested in visiting.  Her friend will leave late tomorrow afternoon, and work begins on August 5th. Yesterday was the last day of sightseeing for Anthony and he finally got to do his cruise to Liberty Island.  Until they went, I assumed that the Statue of Liberty was on Ellis Island.  It is not.  So much for assumptions.  They did photograph Ellis as they passed by, but it was too hot and they were too tired to stop and visit.  Plus, there were tons of people, and they were a bit weary of that aspect of sightseeing....

Move In Day and Visiting Temporary Work Site

Kira moved in yesterday, and while I would love to show the photos of her new place, they are going to have to wait one more day, because the photos Kira sent will not download yet. I will explain more about the apartment tomorrow, but I do have permission to share a story of her first night there. Kira, I may not get all the specifics correct, so forgive me. Walking Tour, Steak, and First Look

Image
Yesterday was Day 2 of an NYC adventure that I am not even on, but am writing to tell you about.  This is Anthony's first trip to the city, and he naturally wanted to make the best of his time there, which meant scheduling a couple of tours.  He scheduled these through Marriott, with the first being a boat cruise of the skyline and Lady Liberty on Tuesday afternoon.  I mentioned yesterday that he had to reschedule that tour due to unexpected time constraints, and the person he spoke to assured him it would be no problem to move it from Tuesday to yesterday.  The plan was for them to take their scheduled morning walking tour of Manhattan and then head to Battery Park to board the boat and take that cruise that had, of course, already been paid for.  The walking tour was very informative, and I will share more on that in a bit, but that is all they were able to do because Anthony received an email from Marriott Maeve who told him that since he did not cancel 24 h...
