NYC, She Has Arrived!

Image
The Kingston's have hit the road, or airways, again.  At least two of them have, and only one is coming back. (Insert saddest emoji face ever here.) As I posted yesterday on FB, Kira is finally fulfilling her lifelong dream of moving to New York City, and while it has come too soon for her parents (time really does fly by people!), we are both extremely proud, and excited for what NYC has to offer her, and for what she has to offer NYC. We will miss her like crazy, and are very thankful for technology that will allow us to see her face even when we can't hug her neck. She and Anthony flew out of Atlanta yesterday, and the flight was so much better for them because there were not a lot of people on their flight, and they could stretch out a bit.  If you are a person with long legs, you know how important this little detail is.  I tracked their flight like a crazy person, because flying terrifies me, and every time one of my loved ones is in the air, I assume I can keep...

Hotels, Family, and Best Friends

Today was our second day in Louisville, and it was time for the actual family reunion portion of our trip. First of all, I want to take a minute to talk about hotels.  I LOVE hotels!!  I mean, I really love them.  We became Marriott people several years ago, and that is our general hotel of choice, although we used Hilton properties a few times on our recent cross country trip.  Here is my general protocol when it comes to hotels.  First of all, I always try to pack everything into a rolling overnight case, especially if I am staying two days or less.  Anything above two days will require a bigger suitcase.  I also carry a bag with my books that I never get around to reading, my iPad, my chargers, meds, and other things I feel I should have.  If I am staying a week, it is a requirement for me to carry a travel first aid kit.  Not sure when I have ever really used it, and in the event that I have found myself bleeding on a trip and needing a b...

Family Reunion—-Destination Louisville

Image
We were back in the car this afternoon for a road trip to Louisville, KY for the Garrison Family Reunion.  This is a family reunion for Anthony’s side of the family, and I last attended one with him two years ago in Atlanta. I had a really nice time, and have been looking forward to this one, especially since Kira is able to come along. We convinced Anthony’s mom to come as well, although getting her back in the car after our long cross country trip just the week before was a bit of a feat for Anthony. She is here, however, and I am fairly certain she will have a good time. Fingers crossed.   Getting back in a car for any of us was a bit of a struggle and I really missed the van. I chose to ride in the back with Kira, mainly so I could be a major annoyance. When that photo was taken, I had  not yet reached the level of annoyance I knew I was capable of, so she still kind of liked me. She is stressing pretty hard about her living arrangements in NYC (long story), so d...
