Family Reunion—-Destination Louisville

We were back in the car this afternoon for a road trip to Louisville, KY for the Garrison Family Reunion.  This is a family reunion for Anthony’s side of the family, and I last attended one with him two years ago in Atlanta. I had a really nice time, and have been looking forward to this one, especially since Kira is able to come along. We convinced Anthony’s mom to come as well, although getting her back in the car after our long cross country trip just the week before was a bit of a feat for Anthony. She is here, however, and I am fairly certain she will have a good time. Fingers crossed.   Getting back in a car for any of us was a bit of a struggle and I really missed the van. I chose to ride in the back with Kira, mainly so I could be a major annoyance.

When that photo was taken, I had  not yet reached the level of annoyance I knew I was capable of, so she still kind of liked me. She is stressing pretty hard about her living arrangements in NYC (long story), so during our ride, she had a couple of face time interviews with potential roommates, and I took this photo of her conducting business.

Really hoping the housing issue is settled before she moves in a couple of weeks, but I do have to brag on her and her calmness, because I would be in full panic mode if I were her.  She did not inherit my ability to go from zero to 90 over sudden obstacles thank goodness.  She is taking it all in stride, a talent that will serve her well when she gets to the big city.

We arrived in Louisville a little after 9 this evening and after giving the desk clerk 2 Aleve for his pounding headache, we headed upstairs to our rooms.  About two minutes after getting to the rooms, Anthony realized that someone else was in one of our rooms, so he headed back downstairs to sort it out.  That guy's headache must have been really bad.  It was finally sorted out, Anthony's mom is in hers and Kira's room asleep, Anthony is downstairs working out, and Kira is doing interpretive dances to Ed Sheeran's new album in front of me while I am trying to type this.

Tomorrow is the family picnic and exploring Louisville a bit.  Until then, good night.
